How to wash your hair
Why do I need instructions?
Okay, we all know the “wash, rinse, repeat” instructions on the back of our shampoo bottles, but who actually does it? Isn’t it just a way for the shampoo companies to get you to use the product faster and buy more? You’ve been washing you hair for years the same ‘ol way and it’s worked for you so far, hasn’t it?
Well, maybe. But with Monat, it’s important to follow the instructions because of what’s NOT in the ingredients. We say to wash twice because the first wash is all about stripping any build up. The second wash is about actually cleaning, moisturizing and healing your hair & scalp.
Remember, Monat doesn’t contain any sulfates, so it’s not going to get as sudsy as you’re used to. That’s okay! It’s still working and it’s still going to be the best shampoo you’ve ever tried!!
Also, Monat is VERY concentrated. You don’t want to use too much or you’ll coat the hair and weigh it down.
Monat Instructions
Shampoo
- Make sure your hair is very wet prior to shampooing.
- Use a dime or nickel sized drop depending on hair length. If you have shoulder length or fine hair, use a dime size drop. Longer or thicker, use a nickel.
- Emulsify in your hands and apply from the ends up to the scalp.
- Let sit for 3 minutes.
- Rinse very well and wash a second time, using less shampoo, following the same instructions as above. You don’t have to let it sit this time though.
- Rinse very well.
- Rinse again – I’m serious, most problems people have with this shampoo are either from using too much and/or not rinsing enough.
Rinse out conditioner
- Before applying conditioner, wring out your hair as much as possible.
- Only apply to the mid-shaft and down.
- Rinse well
Leave in conditioner
- Towel dry your hair and apply 2-3 squirts to your hands and apply to your hair from mid-shaft, down, concentrating on the ends.
- You want your hair to be quite dry before you put in the leave in conditioner.
Masque
- Apply generously to wet or dry hair and let sit 15 minutes. (I put it on dry hair before I shower, you can put it on and leave it overnight for extra moisturizing.)
- Rinse and then wash as normal.
- Blow dry your hair after using the masque for the silkiest, softest hair you’ve ever experienced. You won’t be able to keep your hands out of it!
Rejuveniqe Oil
- Add a drop to your conditioner for extra conditioning and shine.
- Rub a drop on your fingertips and apply to the ends of your hair before drying.
- Rub a drop between your palms and lightly run them over your dry hair to add shine and control flyaways.
- Apply 2-3 drops to your scalp 15 minutes before showering to increase hair growth and help restore balance to your scalp oils.
Monat Sample Instructions
Follow the above instructions for your samples. One packet of Monat shampoo should last you at least 3 washes. Monat conditioner should last you longer.
